An alleged rapist was killed in a gunfight with members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Kushumpura area under Patiya upazila of the district Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Arman, 25, son of Md Tayeb hailed from Jeri Union under the upazila.
Mashkur Rahman, assistant director of RAB-7 said that the incident happened at 5 am when a patrol team of RAB-7 conducted the drive at Meherati village to arrest Arman.
Sensing presence of the RAB members, the criminals fired gunshots targeting the elite force, forcing them to retaliate.
