Ranveer Singh wowed audiences with his beyond brilliant performance as Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. Keeping in mind the dedicated performer that Ranveer is, it sure didn’t come as a surprise to see him play this role with utmost perfection. All set to work with Karan Johar in his next – Takht, he will be seen in an interesting role in this film set in the Mughal era. The film also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor. As excited fans are about this period drama, so is Ranveer.
Talking about the project, Ranveer said in a recent interview, “I’m very excited to be working with Karan Johar for the first time. We’ve been wanting to collaborate for a long time and it’s finally happening and it’s happening in the best and biggest way possible.”
He further added, “Takht is an amazing story. I leaped at this opportunity to play Dara Shikoh (the eldest son and heir-apparent of the fifth Mughal emperor Shah Jahan), who is one of the most fascinating characters that I’ve ever come across. A hero in the truest sense.”
Earlier speaking about Takht, Karan Johar called it “like the K3G of the Mughal era,” just more extreme. If reports are to be believed, Ranveer will romance Janhvi in the film while Alia and Vicky will be paired opposite each other. Co-produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta, Takht is slated for release in 2020.
