Defending champions Rangpur Division and Sylhet Division booked their final spot of the Sports Directorate Development Cup Football tournament eliminating their respective rivals in the semifinals held on Wednesday at Govt. Physical Training College in the city’s Mohammadpur.
The final will be held on Friday (April 27) at the same venue.
In the day’s first semi-final, Sylhet division beat Chittagong division by 3-2 goals in penalty shootout after the regulation time ended in a 1-1 goal draw.
In the day’s second semi-final, a late goal by Tushar steered Rangpur division in to final beating Barisal Division by a lone goal.
Sports Directorate Director Dr M Aminul Islam distributed the prizes among the players after the semi-final match.
A total of eight divisional U-16 teams from across the country will compete in the tournament.
