Brilliant centuries from skipper Naeem Islam and Dhiman Ghosh helped Rangpur Division to collect a massive total of 325 for 6 against Khulna Division at stumps on the first day of first round four-day National Cricket League (NCL) held on Friday at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Put to bat fist by Khulna Division, Rangpur Division lost their two top orders batsmen early and eventually slipped to 94 for 4 in the face of tight bowling display of Khulna bowlers.
Skipper Nayeem Islam (120 n.o) stepped forward to take the responsibility as he first shared 71 runs third wicket stand with opener Symon Ahmed (50) and then 148 runs sixth wicket stand with Dhiman Ghosh (105) to take Rangpur to a commanding position.
Dhiman hit 14 boundaries and one over boundary during his 117-ball stay on the crease.
Nayeem was superb with bat as he hit nine fours and one six and remained as night watch batsman as the bails were drawn for the day.
Al Amin Hossain and Abdur Razzak shared three wickets each giving away 50 and 87 runs respectively.
