Rangpur schools show students’ protection highest priority

As the schools open all across the country today on Sunday, students of Rangpur are following health and safety protocols to keep themselves and the school premises safe from the spread of COVID-19.
After a year and half of closure due to coronavirus pandemic, schools have started to conduct in-person classes in their campus. Prioritizing students’ safety,Plan International Bangladesh steps forward to support the Government and school authorities in Rangpurand Nilphamari district to prevent the deadly virus and ensure smooth and risk-free operations of the institutions.
“Following the school reopening guideline, orienting school teachers and applying the guideline was really challenging.With the support of JANO project, we are trying to ensure safe environment at school.” said Akhtaruzzaman, Deputy Director, Secondary and Higher Education of Rangpur Division.
To uphold the protection of student, the organisation, under its JANO project, has distributed a number of hygienic materials including, digital thermal scanner, hand washing devices, facemasks, detergent powder, liquid disinfectant, sanitary napkin, other cleaning materials, festoon, and leaflet containing awareness-raising messages on COVID 19 and school reopening guideline which was developed by the Department of Secondary and Higher Education under the Ministry of Educationin 330 schools of Rangpur and Nilphamari. These materials have been distributed a month before of school reopening through active participation of the education authority and member of SMC.
Plan International is one of the consortium member of the Joint Action for Nutrition Outcome (JANO) project and has been supporting the education department of Rangpur to reopen school. Before distributing the materials, the JANO project of Plan International Bangladesh has conducted an orientation for the school teachers on the school reopening guideline at the beginning of this year. A total of 330 Head Teachers took partin the orientation from Rangpur and Nilphamari.
