Rangpur records 4.28pc Covid-19 positivity rate

Rangpur division recorded 4.28 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as eight fresh cases were reported after testing 187 new samples in the division on Friday.
Health officials said the coronavirus situation continues improving amid declining positivity rate and rising recovery rate during the
last two months in the division.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.24 percent on Thursday, 3.14 on Wednesday, 3.67 percent on Tuesday, 2.16 percent on
Monday, 2.87 percent on Sunday and 3.48 percent on Saturday last in the division. Among the eight new patients, two were reported positive after diagnosing 93 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur at the daily positivity rate of 2.15 percent on Friday.
“The two new Covid-19 patients are hailing from Rangpur district alone,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS on Fridaynight.
On the other hand, six new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 6.38 percent on Friday. “The six new Covid-19 infected patients include two from Dinajpur, one from Panchagarh and three from Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,192 as eight new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
“The district-wise break up of total 55,192 patients include 12,437 of Rangpur, 3,797 Panchagarh, 4,433 of Nilphamari, 2,737 of Lalmonirhat, 4,634 of Kurigram, 7,588 of Thakurgaon, 14,712 of Dinajpur and 4,854 of Gaibandha in the division,” he added.
