Leaders of of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) have called for formulating special industrial, loan and tax policies for Rangpur region to accelerate industrialisation, expand trade and commerce in the area.
They made the call while addressing a views-sharing meeting with Governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) Fazle Kabir at the conference room of Rangpur Branch of BB in the city on Thursday evening.
BB Governor Fazle Kabir said that he would take steps for flourishing industrialisation, trade and commerce in Rangpur region and accelerate socio-economic development in the area.
High officials of Bangladesh Bank and different commercial banks, directors and executives of RCCI attended the meeting.
President of RCCI Md Abul Kashem, former Vice-president of FBCCI Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu, Senior Vice-president of RCCI Mostafa Ahmed, its Vice-president Mozammel Hossain Dambel, addressed the meeting.
The RCCI leaders informed the BB Governor about the prevailing problems, issues and tremendous prospect for investment and industrialisation in the economically backward Rangpur region.
The RCCI President called for formulating special industrial, loan and tax policies for Rangpur region and providing bank loans at low interest rate for agro-based industries.
He sought intervention of the BB Governor in setting up ‘Industrial Village’ following the model of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industry Corporation (BSCIC) in every upazila.
