Rangpur AL observes Jail Killing Day

Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies observed the Jail Killing Day here on Wednesday paying rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four slain national leaders, reports BSS.
Marking the day, the district and city units of AL and its associate bodies chalked out daylong programmes included hoisting of the national and party flags at half-mast and black flag, placing of wreaths at the portraits and mural of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and portraits of four national leaders and holding milad mehfils and discussions. President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed in the chair, its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju delivered keynote speech in the main discussion held at district AL office in Betpotti area of the city.
Senior Vice-president of district AL Advocate Elias Ahmed, its Joint General Secretary Motahar Hossain Mandal Mowla, Organising Secretary Jashem Bin Hossain Jummon, Office Secretary Amin Sarker, President of district Mohila AL Mortuza Mansur, its
General Secretary Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite and leaders of AL and its associate bodies addressed the discussion. The city unit of AL organised similar programmes and a discussion after placing wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Square premises with its President Shafiur Rahman Shafi in the chair.
General Secretary of city AL Tushar Kanti Mandal, its Vice- presidents Shah Md Nabiullah Panna and Advocate Dilshad Mukul, Joint General Secretary Nidhuram Adhikari, Organising Secretary Engineer Shahadat Hossain and leaders of its associate bodies addressed. Addressing the discussions, the speakers said killing of four national leaders was the continuation of a deep-rooted conspiracy since assassination of Bangabandhu and his family members to wipe out AL, nation’s independence and Bangladesh.
They demanded for bringing back all absconding killers of Bangabandhu and four national leaders at the earliest to ensure their exemplary punishments as per the court’s verdicts to free the nation from the decades-old stigma.
Advocate Raju said the killers wanted to destroy AL and reverse national independence through killing of four national leaders after assassination of Bangabandhu without understanding that Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are inseparable.
Mamtaz said the anti-liberation forces are still hatching conspiracies against the country to hinder ongoing massive developments for taking revenge for their defeat in 1971 and
everyone should remain alert to foil their evil plots.
