Rangpur-3 by polls today 4-tier security taken

By polls to Rangpur-3 Constituency, which fell vacant after the death of Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad on July 14, will be held today.
The Election Commission (EC) has taken all preparations for conducting the polls in a smooth manner. It also ensured a four-tier security blanket with the help of the concerned law enforcing authorities.
Meanwhile, JaPa President GM Quader told reporters yesterday, “Everyone is for Saad and they have triggered a wave of public sentiment for him;
 Saad will be the winner.”
The top leadership of the JaPa is desperate to see Rahgir Al Mahi (Saad Ershad) win the Rangpur-3 by-election. Party Secretary General Mashiur Rahman Ranga is currently in his own constituency at Rangpur-1 (Gangachora) while party Chairman GM Quader returned to Dhaka after a workers rally on Wednesday.
Rangpur Regional Election Officer and Returning Officer for Rangpur-3 by polls GM Sahatab Uddin said six candidates are contesting in Rangpur-3 by polls with their allocated respective symbols.
The candidates are JaPa-nominated Rahgir Al Mahi (Saad Ershad) (Plough), BNP-nominated candidate Rita Rahman (Sheaf of Paddy), independent candidate Hossain Mokbul Shahriar Asif (Motor Car), National People Party- nominated candidate Shafiul Alam (Mango), Gano Front-nominated candidate
Muhammad Shahidullah (Fish) and Khelafat Majlish-nominated candidate Tauhidur Rahman Mandal Raju (Wall Clock).
Voters are expecting a triangular contest in Rangpur-3 by polls among JaPa
candidate Rahgir Al Mahi Saad Ershad, BNP candidate Rita Rahman and
independent candidate Hossain Mokbul Shahriar Asif.
Earlier, the six candidates and their workers ended their hectic last moment
electioneering at 9:00am on Thursday.
“The polling will begin at 9:00am and continue uninterruptedly till 5:00pm
using the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at all 1,023 booths in
175 polling centres across the Rangpur-3 Parliamentary Constituency,” the
Returning Officer said.
A total of 4 lakh 41 thousand and 224 voters, including 2 lakh 20 thousand and 823 male and 2 lakh 20 thousand and 401 female, are eligible to cast their votes in the by-election.
“A total of 3,244 election officials, including 175 presiding officers, 1,023 assistant presiding officers and 2,046 polling officers will conduct the voting process at all the 175 polling centres,” he said.
“To ensure peaceful law and order, 18 Executive Magistrates, four judicial magistrates and one mobile election tribunal led by Judicial Magistrates are working in Rangpur-3 seat,” the Returning Officer said.
In addition to deployment of over 3,000 members of police and Anwar-VDP, 20 roving teams of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), 18 platoons of BGB and members of intelligence agencies have been deployed to ensure security at all booths for peaceful by-election.
