The freedom fighters and freedom-loving people liberated the hill district from clutches of the Pakistani occupation forces on Sunday in 1971.
On the day, two valiant freedom fighters- Manish Dewan and Shamsuddin Ahmed Peara along with their fellow freedom fighters freed the district by hoisting the national flag in front of then deputy commissioner’s office. To mark the day, district administration and Muktijoddha Sangsad, organised a discussion meeting. The meeting was addressed, among others, by Commander of Rangamati Muktijoddha Sangsad Ronald Pintu and President of Freedom Fighter Rehabilitation Samity Md Kamal Uddin.
