The health department authorities said the diarrhoea situation that broke out at Sajek union in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati on Wednesday night killing five people so far is now under control.
Khagrachhari regional staff officer Major Robayet Jamil on Friday said the diarrhoea situation in Baghaichhari upazila is now totally under control.
They have given treatment to around 100 patients and they did not get any news of fresh attack of diarrhea till Friday.
Sources at the district civil surgeon’s office said five medical teams of Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh and Health Department were giving treatment to the diarrhoea affected people.
Khagrachhari regional commander Brig Gen Mahbubul Alam by a helicopter visited different villages of Sajek with emergency foods and medicines on Friday and distributed those among the darrhoea affected people.
A sudden outbreak of diarrhea at Shialdah, Chailyatali and Laban under Sajek union in Baghaichhari upazila have put hundreds of patients in hospital, leaving five people, including a woman, dead at Sajek in Baghaichhari upazila from Wednesday night till Thursday (May 14) morning.
The deceased are Baturam Tripura, Bhadrapati Tripura, Kuhlya Tripura, Bidya Mohan Tripura and Laxmi Rani Tripura. The outbreak of diarrhea caused due to drinking polluted water, according to the acting civil surgeon.
