Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board (CHTDB) announced stipend for 811 students of the CHT region in the fiscal year 2013-2014. A total of Tk 24,73,000 will be distributed among the students as stipend.
Md. Nurul Alom Chowdhury, member secretary of CHTDB told journalists that in two categories students will get the financial assistance. In the first category students of H.S.C to Graduation level including Diploma will get the stipend. In the second category students of medical college and engineering university will avail the stipend. Selected students from the 1st category will get Tk 2,400 at a time while students of the 2nd category will get Tk 3,600 at a time. According to the stipend list, 330 students are from Rangamati, 239 from Bandarban and 242 from Khagrachhari. 2,253 students applied for stipend, the member secretary added.
Officials of CHTDB ensured that chairman of CHTDB and also Secretary to Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tract Affairs Nobo Bikrom Kisore Tripura will inaugurate the stipend distribution programme at CHTDB conference room on 16 August.
