UNB, Dhaka :
The High Court on Sunday granted bail for six months to Rana Plaza owner Sohel Rana in a case filed by Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) under the Building Construction Act.
However, the Jubo League leader has to remain behind the bars as the HC vacation bench comprising Justice M Rezaul Hasan and Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarker dismissed his bail pleas in the murder case filed over the Rana Plaza collapse that killed over 1100 people last year.
Deputy attorney general Mohammad Selim stood for the state while Abdul Quader Bhuyian argued for Rana.
Rana Plaza, a multi-storey building at Savar on the outskirts of the capital, came down crashing on April 24 last year.
Rajuk filed the case with Savar Model Police Station against Sohel Rana for violating the Bangladesh National Building Code on the day.
