The Muktijoddha Complex in Ramgarh in Khagrachhari district has been locked for two years after its construction. For the welfare of the heroic freedom fighters, the local government engineering department constructed the complex building in Kampara area of Ramgarh municipality in 2019 at a cost of around Tk 2.31 crore. As the complex has been locked for almost two years, there has been anger among the local heroic freedom fighters.
At the initiative of the Ministry of Freedom Fighters, a three-storied Muktijoddha Complex building was constructed in Ramgarh in 2019 at a cost of around Tk 2.31 crore. The 2,117-square-foot three-storey building constructed in Kampara area of Ramgarh Municipality has a commander’s office room, library room, hall room and 12 shop rooms. In addition to its own water supply and electricity system, powerful generators and solar panels are installed in the building. Necessary furniture, computers, televisions for office and hall rooms are provided. About a year after the construction, on August 11, 2020, MP Kujendra Lal Tripura of Khagrachhari constituency inaugurated the complex as the chief guest. Since then, the complex building has remained locked. Being locked, the local heroic freedom fighters are not getting a chance to sit or spend time. Due to this anger has been created among the heroic freedom fighters. Expressing his anger, Abul Khair, a heroic freedom fighter of Ramgarh, said that the freedom fighters do not get a chance to sit in this building on any day. Former deputy commander of Khagrachhari District Muktijoddha Command, Bir Muktijoddha Md Mostafa, said there was no initiative to rent out 12 shop rooms in the complex building.
All the expenses of running the complex from the rent of the shop room should be met and financial assistance should be given to the heroic freedom fighters in case of emergency. “We were very happy with the construction of the complex,” said Saleh Ahmed, a heroic freedom fighter. I will sit for a while in my spare time, we will meet each other and discuss. But no one has yet got that opportunity as it is locked. ‘He lamented,’ Some freedom fighters have died here in the last two years after the construction of the complex. None of them got a chance to spend time under the roof of this dream complex. I don’t know if we will get that opportunity too. Former upazila commander Bir Muktijoddha Mofizur Rahman said at least one employee was needed to keep the complex running.
