Ramgarh Upazila of the district was freed from the clutches of Pakistani occupation forces on December 8, 1971.
District unit Ex-Muktijoddha Commander Mohammad Rois Uddin said freedom fighters under sector number 1 and people of Ramgarh contributed much during the long nine months’ liberation war.
The allied forces attacked on Pak army through air on December 6, 1971. After this the Pak army fled away to Chattogram.
Freedom fighters entered Ramgarh on December 8 and people hoisted the flag of independent Bangladesh in front of Ramgarh Post Office.
Karim Shah, a youth said freedom fighters with the help of people declared independence of Bangladesh on December 8, 1971.
Deputy Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam recalled the contribution of freedom fighters and people of Ramgarh.
