Prominent and common people have expressed surprise that the name of Rama Chowdhury, a Birangana writer who lost two children of martyrs in the war of liberation, did not appear in the list and gazette of freedom fighters even after 50 years of independence. Speaking at a function at the city’s CRB on Friday to mark his third death anniversary, speakers said Rama Chowdhury, born in 1941, is a legend.
Despite losing his dignity and two children in the hard-fought liberation struggle, he has led an independent life in an independent country without any help or cooperation; Which is a subject of research for the new generation and future generations.
In the light of this picture and for the respect it deserves, the speakers made a special demand to include Rama Chowdhury in the list of freedom fighters immediately.
President of Rama Chowdhury Smriti Sangsad Prof. Rita Dutta presided over the commemoration ceremony organized by Rama Chowdhury Smriti Sangsad and with the overall support of CRB protection civil society, Chattogram at 4 pm.
In the program conducted by the coordinator of the organization Alauddin Khokon, homage, remembrance and floral tribute were paid to the bust of Rama Chowdhury. At the beginning of the program, artist Anand Prakriti performed a song from a poem written by Rama Chowdhury.
