Former Mayor and President of Chittagong City Awami League ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury called upon the people of the country to resist the Mafia Saif Power Tech to save the heart of the economy- Chittagong Port .
He declared the Saif Power as mafia and urged the authority to declare the illegal terminal operator as blacklisted. Former Mayor was addressing the huge attended press conference as arranged by Bandar Rakkha Parishad as chief guest. Convenor of the BRP and former Mayor ABM Mohiuddin chowdhury depicted the corruptions and irregularities of the unauthorized terminal operator of Chittagong Port. He said Saif Power is not a legally approved container handling organization and misappropriating the fund of the port through irregularities, corruptions and violating the terms of agreement. He said the movement of Save Port, Remove Saif Power has already begins in the port city and this movement will continue till the declaring the Saif Power as black listed and void. The picture of 10 corruptions of the Saif Power was placed before the press meet and placed 3 demands to declared the Saif Power as black listed. The demands so placed before the journos are – 1) to declare the Saif Power as black listed and abrogation of agreement for operating the New Mooring container Terminal and Dhaka Kamalapur ICD by Saif Power 2) to constitute powerful probe committee about the involvement of the Saif Power in port activities and 3) quick decision to operate the NCT by own management of Chittagong Port authority through procurement of handling equipments with port’s fund. Mohiuddin chowdhury in his deliverations called upon all to participate the mass gathering infront of Bandar Bhaban on August 27 next to remove the Saif Power from port activities. The press meet was told that the next movement for removing the saif power will be declared in the mass public meeting on August 27. Among others, JSD leader Jasimuddin chowdhury, Indu Nandan Dutta, Muktijuddha commander Shahabuddin, FF Amal Mitra, Syed Ahmed, Mozaffar Ahmed , port users Masiul Alam Swapan, Alhaj MA Bakkar, Haji Md. Ibrahim , Abu Sharif , Mostafizur Rahman, Asad Khan, Jane Alam were present in the press meet.
Meanwhile, Bandar Sramik Karmachari Parishad, a conglomeration of eight trade union bodies of Chittagong Port declared the Saif Power as black listed at a meeting held on Sunday last.
