A colourful rally was brought out recently by the doctors, nurses and staff of Shaheed Khalek Ibrahim General Hospital Wari of National Health Network (NHN) Bangladesh Diabetic Samity to mark the World Diabetes Day. Among others, CEO, NHN Dr. MA. Samad, Director of NHN eminent freedom fighter Dr. CM Delwar Rana and the Director of this Hospital Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam attended the programme. The World Health Organization (WHO) and International Diabetic Federation (IDF) declared the World Diabetes Day in the year 1941 on 14th November.
It is the birthday of Nobel prize winner lord Bentin who invented the insulin.
In the year 2006 the United Nations (UN) in its General meeting passed this day to observe World Diabetes Day.
