Dhaka University (DU) Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS) on Thursday brought out a procession on the campus marking the International Day for Disaster Reduction-2017.
With the theme “Durjog Sohonio Abas Gori, Nirapode Bas Kori” (Let Us Build Disaster-resilience Habitation and Stay Safely), the procession was brought from the Aparajeyo Bangla premises which ended at the Lecture Theatre Bhaban premises after parading different thoroughfares.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the procession as the chief guest while Bangladesh Open University Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain, DU IDMVS Director Professor Dr Mahbuba Nasreen and different Department and Institute teachers and students were present, among others, at the function.
International Day for Disaster Reduction is observed every year on October 13.
