Rakib Hossain of Bangladesh advanced to the boys’ singles final of the Bengal Plastic Asian 14/U Series Tennis Tournament eliminating his compatriot Emon Islam by 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 games in the event’s semifinal at the Raman National Tennis Complex here on Thursday.
Rakib will play final Friday afternoon against Maxwel Heward of Hong Kong, who made a final berth eliminating Ranjit Sarkar of Bangladesh by 6-2, 6-2 games in the other semifinal on the day.
Earlier on Wednesday, two Korean girls–Gi Woo Choi and Yeong Eun Ryu-reached the girls’ singles final eliminating their rivals in the semifinals at the same venue.
In Wednesday’s girls singles semifinals, Gi Woo Choi eliminated her compatriot Eun Ji Jung by 6-0, 6-0 games while Yeong Eun Ryu beat Shravasti Dev of Bangladesh also by 6-0, 6-0 games.
The boys’ singles and girls’ singles finals will be held Friday afternoon while boys’ doubles will be held Friday morning.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammad Shahriar Alam MP witnessed the singles final as the chief guest in the afternoon and later he will distributed the prizes.
