Twelve-year-old Rakib Hawladar died from excessive internal bleeding caused by the rupture of intestines due to high pressure of air that was pumped inside his body through the rectum by the torturers, says the autopsy report. Khulna Sadar police Sub-Inspector Kazi Mostaque Ahmed received the report from the Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) on Saturday, said Sadar Police Station OC Sukumar Biswas. Ahmed is the investigation officer in the case lodged by the boy’s family over the brutal murder.
Quoting the autopsy report, he said the air pressure first ripped Rakib’s intestines, rectum and bladder causing profuse internal bleeding in the stomach, which subsequently spread. “The report found excessive bleeding as the cause of death.”
KMCH forensic department’s Dr Wahid Mahmud, who conducted the autopsy, also confirmed bdnews24.com the cause of the death which was the direct result of the torture. The report mentioned that the air pumped inside Rakib’s body at intense speed had stopped his lung from functioning normally. There were also blood clots in the fingers on both hands and wrists and the heels of both legs.
Two men, Rakib’s former employers, tortured the boy to death on Aug 3 at a vehicle repair shop at the city’s Tutparha. Locals, right after the incident, had caught the duo and another who was also involved in the murder. They handed the trio over to police after beating the two main perpetrators. They are repair shop owner ‘Sharif’, 35, his uncle Mintu Mia, 40, and Sharif’s mother Beauty Begum, 55.
