The High Court on Sunday awarded 11 years jail to a former Stenographer of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) in a corruption case filed by ACC.
A lower court about two years ago acquitted him of the charge brought against him.
The court ordered convicted Stenographer Md Shafiullah to surrender in the lower court within 15 days.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice K M Hafizul Alam passed the judgement after holding hearing on an appeal filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) challenging a lower court verdict.
The HC also scrapped the verdict delivered by the Special Judges Court-7 of Dhaka that acquitted Md Shafiullah of the graft charges on November 21, 2017.
The ACC filed the case with Motijheel Police Station on October 10, 2013 against Shafiullah on the charge of abusing his power, damaged documents on planning and records for constructing multi-storey buildings.
Deputy Attorney General A K M Aminuddin Manik told the reporters that the allegation brought against him of damaging the important documents had been proved in the court.
DAG A K M Aminuddin said, Shafiullah will have to serve jail term if the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court does not stay the HC verdict.
