Court Correspondent :
The Senior Special Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday sent Assistant Director of Rajuk Shah Md Sadrul Alam in the jail rejecting his bail plea in connection with a case filed for design forgery of FR Tower in the city’s Banani area.
Judge KM Emrul Kayes of the court passed the order on Tuesday after Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Md Abubakar Siddique and also the Investigating Officer of the case, produced him in the court yesterday afternoon.
Abubakar Siddique in his report said that
Sadrul was directly involved with the design manipulation. “If he gets bail, he will damage the evidence of the case and threaten witnesses. So, he should be confined to the jail until the investigation is completed,” he added.
On behalf of the accused a petition was submitted seeking bail saying that Sadrul was not involved with the incident. Moreover, he was not the one who approved the design.
Earlier, an ACC team arrested Sadrul, 52, on Monday at about 9.45pm from his residence in Rajuk quarters of Banani.
A devastating fire in FR Tower left at least 25 people dead and 73 others injured on March 28 this year.
The building owner allegedly constructed extra floors as per the design, not found in Rajuk paper.
