Known for its clean and green environs, Rajshahi city has now been beautified with aesthetic street lights.
Pedestrians are enjoying the eye-catching street lights of various designs on different roads.
The city shines with those lights as soon as the sun sets in the West.
Rajshahi City Corporation has already upgraded the important roads of the city to four lanes. Different colorful and aesthetic street lights are being installed in phases to enhance the beauty of the roads.
These lights are being installed from the city’s Kalpana Cinema Hall to Talaimari at a cost of Tk 127.49 crore as part of the road development and widening project, said Mahafuz Mishu, public relations officer of the city corporation.
A total of 130 modern eye-catching poles are being installed on the road island. Each pole has 13 lights. Besides, there are 180 garden lights on the south side of the road, Mishu added.
The installation work of these street lights started from February last year that really enchants the people, Mishu added.
174 spectacular electric poles have already been installed on the 4.2 km road from Kashiadanga junction to Bilsimla rail crossing on the western entrance of the city.
Each pole has two eye-catching LED bulbs which look like butterflies, the officer added.
On the other hand, a 6.793 km four lane connecting road has been constructed from Alif Lam Mim Bhatar junction of the city to Chhota Banagram, Meherchandi, Budhpara, Mohanpur rail crossing to Bihas to Rajshahi-Natore road.
In addition, a 327.50 meters long flyover has been built.
Apart from this, 174 LED lights were installed in 87 poles on the 2.5 km road from Alif Lam Mim Bhatar junction to Nader Hajbir junction.
Moreover, different types of LED lights have been installed in various important walkways of the city.
The aesthetically pleasing electric lights are automatically turned on and off by the autologic controller.
AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation, said that Rajshahi is the only city in the country to have such beautiful street lights. “The safety of pedestrians is increasing due to more light on the roads, as well as the beauty of the city.”
This ancient city, also known as the city of education, will be the ideal city, hopes the mayor.
