Rajshahi Medical’s COVID unit sees 19 more deaths

As many as 19 more patients have died in the last 24 hours at the corona unit in Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH). Among the deaths, five tested positive for Covid-19 and the rest displayed symptoms consistent with the disease.
RMCH director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani confirmed the information on Tuesday morning.
“From 8:00 am on Monday to 8:00 am on Tuesday, 19 people – 13 men and six women – died in different wards of RMCH. Of them, 10 were from Rajshahi, two each from Naogaon and Natore, one each from Chapainawabganj, Chuadanga, Joypurhat, Kushtia and Pabna,” he said.
In the last 24 hours, 201 covid patients have been detected after testing 712 samples in two labs of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital. The infection rate is 29.03 percent.
Meanwhile, 76 people have been admitted to RMCH in the last 24 hours while 73 others returned home after recovery. With the new patients, a total of 489 patients are now undergoing treatment in the 454-bed corona unit of the Hospital as of this morning.
