Rajshahi Income Tax zone to accord reception to 30 highest tax payers

The Income Tax zone of Rajshahi will accord reception to 30 highest tax payers in Rajshahi zone comprising the districts of Rajshahi, Naogaon, Natore, Chapainawabgonj and Pabna.
On the ‘National Income Tax Day-2014’ on September 15 the reception will be accorded. A rally will start in the morning from the Income Tax office in the city marking the day.
The reception ceremony will held at the auditorium of Rajshahi Medical College in the city following the rally.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, is likely to attend the event as the chief guest while NBR Member Lokeman Chowdhury, Commissioner of Rajshahi division Helaluddin Ahmed and Income Tax Commissioner Hafiz Ahmed Murshed as special guests
Meanwhile, The Rajshahi zone has collected tax worth Taka 257.48 crore in last 2013-14 fiscal year up by Taka 37 lakh than the previous fiscal.
The Zone had set a target of recovering Taka 250 crore but the collection was Taka 257 crore from around 1.10 lakh taxpayers. Of them 54,000 submitted returns.
“The target has been surpassed due to the continuous efforts to enhance the number of taxpayers,” said Sunil Kumar Shaha, Commissioner of Tax of the zone, while talking to BSS here today ahead of this week’s National Income Tax Day-2014 and week-long Income Tax Fair-2014.
He said the rate of income tax earning has been growing day by day in the wake of bringing simplicity in the tax realization system together with building cordial relation between the tax officials and taxpayers.
“We have set a target to realize taxes worth Taka 325 crore in the current 2014-15 fiscal and we are hopeful about attaining the target by end of the fiscal,” said Sunil Kumar.
He, however, said: “For the sake of tax collection, there are no hesitations to file certificate case or fine against those even confiscate bank accounts of those identified as defaulters”. He says the number of certificate cases, lodged so far, has been mounted to more than 202 in the zone.
