A total of 851 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in all eight districts of the division on Thursday, taking the caseload to 57,884.
With 20 more fatalities from the disease reported on the day, the death toll reached 910, including 408 in Bogura, 164 in Rajshahi with 92 in its city and 114 in Chapainawabganj, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.
The new daily infection figure shows a declining trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 1,279, said the health department sources.
Among the infected people, 40,069 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 622 new recoveries reported on Thursday.
A total of 6,522 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.
Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 12,986 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision.
Of them, 8,998 have by now been released. On the other hand, 479 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 277 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am on Friday.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 244 were detected in Pabna, followed by 241 in Rajshahi, including 213 in its city, 100 in Bogura, 78 in Natore, 68 in Sirajganj, 49 in Naogaon, 40 in Chapainawabganj and 31 in Joypurhat districts.
With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 17,881 in Rajshahi, including 14,456 in its city, 4,190 in Chapainawabganj, 4,683 in Naogaon, 3,926 in Natore, 3,520 in Joypurhat, 14,073 in Bogura, 4,674 in Sirajganj and 4,937 in Pabna.
A total of 85,487 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).
Of them, 76,915 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.
Meanwhile, the surge of Covid-19 cases has been continuing in all eight districts of the division since the very beginning of the second wave making the division a hotspot of the deadly virus.
UNB adds: Eleven more people have died of Covid-19 at three different hospitals in Khulna district in the past 24 hours, health officials said on Friday.
Of the deceased, 10 were confirmed Covid patients while the remaining exhibited symptoms of the virus.
While eight people died at the dedicated Covid facility of Khulna Medical College and Hospital, two succumbed to Covid at the corona unit of Khulna General Hospital and one at the private Gazi Medical College Hospital.
Khulna Corona Dedicated Hospital’s nodal officer Dr Suhas Ranjan Haldar said that a total of 204 people are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Of them, 110 people are getting treatment in the red zone of the hospital, 54 in the yellow zone, 20 in ICU (intensive care unit), and 20 in HDU (high deficiency unit).
On the other hand, as many as 33 new patients have been admitted to the hospital and 27 discharged after recovery since Friday morning.
Kazi Abu Rashed, spokesman for the corona unit of Khulna General Hospital, said that some six people have been admitted to the hospital and eight others discharged after recovery till Friday morning.
Gazi Mizanur Rahman, owner of Gazi Medical College Hospital, said that one died of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. Besides, some 109 people are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Of them, nine are in the ICU and 10 in the HDU.
On Thursday, health authorities recorded the highest single-day death toll of 35 in Khulna division.
