Rajshahi divisional e-business fair-2014 began for the first time in the city Wednesday to encourage people to online shopping of their necessities.
Divisional Commissioner’s office organized the three-day fair with patronization of Information and Communication Technology Division being held at Rajshahi Medical College auditorium with more than 40 major e-commerce- related organisations displaying their products and services.
Main objective of the fair was to promote the concept of e-business and e- commerce among the future business leaders, to encourage the E-Business courses offered by various institutions and organizations among the students and to create a platform for the e-commerce initiatives run by the current students for upgrading and endorsing themselves.
The fair will display the e-services developed by various public and private organizations during the last five years and e-commerce activities including online buy and sales of goods.
The authorities have chalked out various programmes to make the fair successful which are included among others bringing out publications, holding seminar and cultural programmes.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, and Akhter Jahan, MP, addressed the inaugural session as the chief and special guests respectively with Commissioner Helaluddin Ahmed in the chair.
Joint Secretary of ICT Division Shyama Prasad Bepari, Additional Commissioner Haiyul Kayum, Managing Director of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank Mufazzal Hossain, Principal of Rajshahi Medical College Prof Dr Abu Raihan Khandaker, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury and President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abu Bakker Ali also spoke.
Lawmaker Badsha said the fair will give participants an opportunity to familiarize and integrate with the fastest growing business form in the world. The fair would also help get different opinions of different quarters to explore the prospects of e-commerce
Services such as money transfer, donations and buying greetings cards are now just a click away from the comfort of people’s homes due to the opportunity of e- commerce, he added.
