Rajshahi District team emerged the champions of the Popular Life Insurance Inter-District Women’s Volleyball Competition when they beat Pabna District team by 3-2 sets in a hard-fought final at the Dhaka Volleyball Stadium on Friday.
Meanwhile, Khulna District team finished third after they defeated Chittagong District team in a place-deciding match at the same venue.
Shibbi of Rajshahi was adjudged the best attacker, Moyuri of Pabna was adjudged the best setter and Rubina of Khulna was adjudged the best smasher. Everyone got Tk five thousand.
Lucky of Rajshahi, Suchana of Pabna, Sharmin of Pabna were adjudged the best promising players. The promising players were awarded Tk five thousand each.
After the final match Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Benazir Ahmed BPM (bar) distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
Managing Director of Popular Life Insurance BM Yousuf Ali, Acting President of Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) and President of BGMEA Md Atiqul Islam, General Secretary of BVF Ashiqur Rahman Miku, Chairperson of Women’s Volleyball Committee and Additional Police Super Syeda Zannat Ara, Secretary of the Committee Nibedita Das were present at the time.
