The district administration here has finalised programmes to celebrate the Victory Day in a befitting manner.
To observe the day, a 3 -day long programmes starting from December 15, have been chalked out at district and upazila headquarters. In this connection, an advisory committee, a general committee and 15 sub-committees have been formed.
The programmes were finalised at a preparatory meeting held at the conference room of the DC’s Office on Tuesday, in line with the national programmes, after elaborate discussions with Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin in the chair.
Senior Awami League (AL) leaders, heads of different government, non-government departments and educational institutions, freedom fighters (FF), professionals, socio- cultural activists, local elite and lawyers attended the meeting.
SP Moazzem Hossain Bhiuyan, Chief Executive Officer of Rajshahi City Corporation Dr Sharif Uddin, Civil Surgeon Dr Ferdous Nilufar, ADC (General) Ataul Gani, AL leaders Nawsher Ali, Advocate Matiur Rahman and Meer Iqbal, Freedom Fighters Commander Dr Abdul Mannan and Deputy Director of Department of Mass Communication Md Shamsuzzaman addressed the meeting, among others.
On December 16, the programmes will start through 31 gun salute and floral tributes will be offered at the Collectorate Building Shaheed Minar in the metropolis.
National flags will be hoisted on government and private offices and residences. A students’ march past and display will be held at the district stadium. A reception would be accorded to the freedom fighters and improved diet would be served to the prisoners, orphanages, and hospitals.
