Despite a brilliant 85 by Junaid Siddique and 56 by Mizanur Rahman, Rajshahi Division were bowled out for 220 against some very tight bowling by Dhaka Metropolis bowlers on the second day of the four-day 19th National Cricket League held on Saturday at Sheikh Abu Naser Cricket Stadium in Khulna.
However, Rajshahi bowlers fought back to reduce Dhaka Metropolis to 10 for 2 when the stumps were drawn for the first day’s play.
Junaid looked well set for a century but lapse of concentration saw he was bowled by Sharifullah for a polished 85 with nine boundaries while Mizan in his 56 struck ten boundaries.
Farhad Reza with 13, Sunzamul with 13, Saqlain Sajib with 13, Farhad Hossain with 15 and Muktar Ali with 10 were the other Rajshahi batsmen to reach double figure marks.
Dolar Mahmud with 3 for 35, Sharifullah with 3 for 57 and Abu Hider with 2 for 72 were the leading Dhaka Metro bowlers behind Rajshahi batting debacle.
Dhaka Metro in 4.2 overs struggled to reach 10 for 2 with Shadman Islam batting on 10. The two Dhaka batsmen who were out are Mehedi Maruf for 1 and Zabid Hossain for 0.
