Barisal Division trailed by 93 runs against Rajshahi Division in the first innings on day one of the Young Tigers Under-16 National Cricket Tournament at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium (SKICS) in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.
Sent in to bat first, Rajshahi Division opened the first innings and scored 156 runs all out in 52.3 overs.
Number eight Alamin Rubel (not out 33) was the highest scorer for the side while skipper Wahedul Islam (31), opener Shozibul Islam (22), Ridwan Rakib (22) and Mehedi Hasan Santo (10) were the other double digit scorers.
Mahmudul Omi grabbed five wickets for 57 runs while KM Shafiqul Islam and Rabby Khan took two wickets each for 17 and 29 runs. Jakaria took one wicket conceding 18 runs.
Barisal Division opened the first innings on the first day and at stumps scoring 63 runs for 6 in 44.4 overs when the bails were drawn for the day.
Number three Shaheed Uddin, opener Remon and Naimur Rahman Anik scored 18, 14 and 11 runs respectively while Tamim Hasan was batting on scoring one run.
Mirajul Moon captured two wickets for 29 runs while Ridoy Islam, Sojibul Islam, Ridwan Rakib and Naimul Islam took one wicket each for 0, 6, 7 and 18 runs respectively.
In the other day’s play at Cox’s Bazar-2, Dhaka Division North trailed by 21 runs against Sylhet Division on day one.
Sylhet Division opened the first innings as the side was put to bat first and scored 116 runs for all in 49.4 overs, spurred by skipper Shafiqul Fahim 56 runs off 114 balls with nine fours.
Mostafa Fahmid (17), Ishaq Ali (not out 15) and AKM Sadik (10) were the other double digit scorers for the side.
Akash Rahman and Tanvir Hossain Nabil grabbed four wickets each for 21 and 30 runs respectively while Osman Goni took two wickets for 25 runs.
Dhaka Division North opened the first innings and scored 95 runs for 5, at stumps, in 39 overs riding on the Osman Goni’s 57 runs off 85 balls with nine fours.
Tanvir Hossain Nabil (12) was another double digit scorer for the side on the day.
Harun Or Rashid and Rakibul Atik were batting scoring 1 and 0 runs respectively when the bails were drawn for the first day.
AKM Sadik captured three wickets for 19 runs while Safiul Islam and Ishaq Ali took one wicket each for 26 and 33 runs respectively.
