UNB, Sylhet :The trial in the killing of teenage boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon began here on Thursday. The testimonies of plaintiff Aminul Islam, suspended sub-inspector of Jalalabad Police Station, and Azizul Islam, father of Rajon, were recorded at the court of Sylhet Metropolitan Session Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha at noon.Earlier, 10 accused were produced before the court. On September 22, the same court framed charges against 13 people, including Kamrul Islam, who is now in Saudi Arabia, and fixed October 1, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 for recording the testimonies of the witnesses to accelerate the trial.The accused are Kamrul Islam, son late Abdul Malek of Kumargaon Sheikhpara in Sylhet Sadar upazila, his brother Muhith Alam, Ali Haidar alias Ali, Shamim Alam, Pavel Islam, Moyna Miah alias Bara Moyna, Nur Ahmed alias Nur Miah, Dulal Ahmed, Ayaz Ali, Taj Uddin Badal, Firoz Miah, Asmot Ali alias Asmot Ullah and Ruhul Amin alias Ruhul.Among the charge-sheeted accused, Kamrul Islam, Shamim Alam and Pavel Islam are absconding.On July 8, 13-year-old boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in Sadar upazila, was brutally tortured to death over a theft at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of the city.The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident. The video clip went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site Youtube which triggered a widespread outcry.
