World Environment Day observed: Raising awareness on air pollution stressed

 A rally and discussion meeting on the occasion of the World Environment Day was organised by District Administration and Department of Environment at local Shilpakala Academy on Thursday with a view to creating mass awareness about the adverse impacts of environmental pollution and ensuring the preservation of environment.
This year’s theme of the day ‘Air pollution’ while of the day slogan Beat Air Pollution.
Additional Deputy Commissioner(General) of Narsingdi Mohammad Abdul Awal addressed the meeting as Chief Guest while Deputy Director, Department of Environment, Narsingdi MD Hafezur Rahaman presided over the function.
The Deputy Commissioner said the adverse impacts of environmental pollution are visible in different sector. He said the government has enacted the Brick Manufacturing and Brick Kiln Establishment as brick field is one of the sources of air pollution. He called upon all to ensure preservation of environment at all levels to make the country’s development sustainable

Speakers in the meeting discussed on the theme of the year ‘Air Poollution’ They called upon all concerned to create awareness about environment pollution for maintaining ecological balance.
Earlier a colorful rally led by Additional Deputy Commissioner(general) Abdul Awal was brought out from Circuit house to Shilpakala Academy premises.
Bhangura (Pabna) Correspondent reports: The World Environment Day was observed by Bhanura Upazila Administration in Pabna, through the procession, discussion meeting and saplings distribution on Thursday.
In the morning, an elaborate rally led by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer was brought out at Upazila Parishad premises. Students of Sharatnagar Government Primary School and Model Government Primary School participated in the rally. A discussion meeting was held in Upazila Parishad Conference Room .
UNO Syed Ashrafuzzaman presided over the meeting . Md Rabiul Karim, lecturer, Department of Botany of Govt. Haji Jamal Uddin Degree College was the chief discussant. Among others Azida Parvin Phakhi,Upazila female Vice Chairman, Md. Shahiduzzaman, Principal of govt. Haji Jamal Uddin Degree College, Prof Mahbub-ul-Alam Bablu, Press Club President, K.M Jahangir Hossain,Upazila Education Officer, Hasnat Jahan ,Women Affairs Officer, Saiful Alam ,Secondary Education Officer, Jahidul Islam ,Social Service Officer, Md. Giasuddin ,Senior Vice President of the Press Club, Headmaster Habiba khandoker Eva were present in the discussion meeting.

On the occasion of the Day, discussion meeting and distribution of saplings were organised in Saidpur Upazila Parishad Hall Room with the help of voluntary organisations ‘Setubandhan’, youth development organisation. Later, a colorful rally moved at the main road of the town.
Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Ajmal Hossain Sarker presided over the meeting with Saidpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer S M Golam Kibria, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Parimal Kumar Sarkar, Women’s Vice Chairman Sanjida Akhter Lucky, Officer-in-charge (Investigation) Hasnat, Kashiram Belpukur Union Chairman Enamul Haque, Upazila Social Forestry and Nursing Training Center Officer-in-charge Nazmul Hasan, founder of ‘Setubandhan’, Youth Development Association, Alamgir Hossain.
The Chief Guest called upon all to come forward to save forests and wild animals and said, “Environment of Bangladesh due to forest destruction, wildlife victims and unplanned urbanization is in trouble.” Wildlife is being lost due to forest fertility, so we all have to be alert. “
