Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Dr Iftekharuzzaman on Thursday called upon the country’s youths to raise their voice against corruption, upholding human values and imbuing the spirit of patriotism.
“The youths must have profound patriotism. A patriot never shelters corruption,” Dr Iftekharuzzaman said.
He said this at a prize distribution ceremony held in its office in the capital organised by TIB on Thursday.
The Executive Director asked the youths to build themselves as good citizens by practicing all the human values that everyone should do.
Later, he distributed prizes among the winners in the essay competition on the anti-corruption drive and lecture marking the International Anti-Corruption Day 2016.
Nazmul Morshed, a student of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology was champion in Bangla extempore, while Md Shihab, a student of Western College, and Mahmudul Hasan, a student of Dhaka College, were the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
Farsim Riasat, a student of Independent University of Bangladesh became the champion in the English extempore, while Md Saidur Rahman, a student of Green University and Rubaiyati Jannat were the first and second runner-up respectively.
Mirza Md Ziaul Karim, a student of Darunnajat Siddiquia Kamil Madrasa was first in the essay under ‘Ka’ division, while Rajib Sarker Pavel, a student of Nalitabari Nazmul Smriti College, and Nusrat Jahan Moumi, a student of Jhalokathi Mahila Higher Secondary School, secured the second and third position respectively.
Jannatul Ferdous Snigdha, a student of Madaripur Nazimuddin Government College, stood first in the essay under ‘Kha’ division, while K M Riasat-ul-Mulk, a student of Dhaka University, and Ehsanul Shipon, a student of the same university captured second and third position respectively.
