Heavy rainfall on Thursday created huge water logging in the capital city on Thursday causing immense sufferings to the city dwellers, especially the holidaymakers.
“Around two and a half an hours heavy rainfall created huge water logging in the city’s Karwanbazar, Nazimuddin Road, Hossaini Dalan, Chawkbazar, Palton, Gulistan and Bangabhaban areas. Water even rose to the height of ankle in many houses of these areas.
“Chocked and unclean drains are the main reason of the water logging. The city corporation employees are liable for the sufferings of the people,” said Himel Dewan, an inhabitant of Nazimuddin Road.
Though the rain started early in the morning, it took a serious turn after 2:00pm yesterday.
The monsoon rain hits the country, especially the Dhaka city, with a downpour causing enormous water logging in many major roads of the capital.
In DSCC’s Rapa Plaza at Dhanmondi, Staff Quarter, Kathalbagan, Kalabagan Dolphin Gali, Green Road, Jigatala, Azimpur, Hazaribagh, Shantinagar, Malibagh, Mouchak, Segunbagicha, Bailey Road, Siddheswari, Circuit House Road, Rajarbagh, Shantibagh, Arambagh, Motijheel, Kamalapur, Manik Nagar, Bashabo, Mugda, New Market, BGB-3 and 4 Gates, Nazimuddin Road, Hossaini Dalan, Lalbagh, Kazi Alauddin Road, Bangshal, Jurain, Postagola, Muradpur, Shampur, Kadamtala, Matuail, Jatrabari, Demra, Shanir Akhara, Sheikh, Dania, Dayaganj Railway Bridge areas were inundated.
Water logging was also found in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCCs) Kazipara, Shewarpara, Kalshi, Mirpur 11 and 12, Kalyanpur, Katasur, Ibrahimpur, Khilkhat, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Mohammadpur Housing, Nabodaya Housing and some other areas.
