Several roads of Khulna city and nine upazilas have became dismantled due to recent downpour and potholes have been developed on the roads.
Inhabitants of 9 upazilas of Khulna district as well as Khulna city are being compelled to use these roads without getting any other alternative and people’s suffering know no bound.
Due to recent heavy rainfall, brick bats of these roads pulled off.
Roads & highways Khulna circle sources said, Khulna road circle is comprised with 17 roads of Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira districts. Among them, 5 local roads including Daulatdia-Khulna- Mongla high way and 12 inter-district roads are used in this region.
Executive Engineer of Road Division stated in a report that potholes created at 7 kilometres roads of Khulna-Chuknagar-Satkhira high way due to heavy rain fall recently. Besides, 24 kms roads of Betgram- Tala-Paikgachha, 8.5 kms roads of Daulatdia-Khulna-Mongla and 4 kms roads of Shyamnagar- Satkhira are in deplorable condition.
Experts think, roads of Khulna city and district which became dismantled recently, should be repaired urgently, otherwise, people of this region will compel to suffer seriously.
Md. Aliul Islam, Executive Engineer of Khulna road division said, with a view to keep plyable, repairing works are being conducted regularly, but heavy rainfall disrupting the repairing works.
On a recent spot visit, this correspondent found the miserable condition of different roads of Khulna city and Terokhada, Dumuria and Batiaghata upazila areas.
Khan Ali Monsur, upazila Chairman of Dumuria said, vehicular movements became unsuitable on these roads.
Md. Rafiqul Islam, resident of Shovna village of Dumuria upazila said, when we go on these roads, we feel sick.
Shahadat Hossain, inhabitant of village Anandanagar of Terokhada upazila told this correspondent that they are in hazardous condition for their deplorable roads.
Sadananda Bairagi, resident of village Sharafpur of Batiaghata upazila said, “We applied several times for repairing our roads, but the authorities are reluctunt to do the same.”
Fakir Abdur Rob, superintendent Engineer of road division, Khulna circle said, dismantled roads will be repaired as soom as possible.
