Sports Reporter :There was no play also on the third day of the second Test between Bangladesh and South Africa at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.Before the lunch period it was virtually an exercise of covering and non-covering of the pitch due to intermittent rain.At 10.45 am the rain-cover of the ground was removed but after some time it started to rain again and the ground was covered by the tarpaulin. The rain stopped at 11.15 am. The tarpaulin was taken away. Then the players of both teams arrived at the ground and started to warm-up. Later, the two umpires consulted with Captain of Bangladesh team Mushfiqur Rahim and Captain of South Africa team Hashim Amla.At 1.30 pm the two umpires inspected the ground and decided that the third day play will start at 2.15 pm. But it started to rain again and the never-ending rain stopped the third day play.At last after 3.00 pm the umpires called off the third day play.Earlier, the second day play (Friday) was not held due to heavy rain.Bangladesh scored 246 for the loss of eight wickets in the first innings on the first day (Thursday).
