Rain sweeps city, causes sufferings to dwellers

Many areas of the capital city on Monday were inundated, and rain called immense sufferings to the city dwellers following heavy monsoon rains.
According to the Met office, rain may continue across the country for seven more days.
Streets, lanes and by-lanes in different parts of the capital went under water following the heavy rains that started around 12 pm.
People were struggling hard to get buses to reach their destinations, while transports were seen stranded in traffic gridlock.
The worst-affected areas were Motijheel, Paltan, Karwan Bazar, Khilgaon, Malibagh, Kazipara, Rokeya Sarani, Shewrapara, Kazipara, Mirpur-10, Mohammadpur and Dhanmondi.
The Met office recorded 33.3mm of rainfall in three hours from 12 noon to 3pm.
Ruhul Kuddus, a meteorologist at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, said “Rain may continue for seven more days.”
Met office bulletin stated, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to torrential rains at places over the country.
