Bangladesh Railway, East zone authority will construct a 500 beds Medical college and Hospital in Chittagong as disclosed by a senior official of the east zone recently.
Asstt. General Manager(Education) of CRB Amjad Hossain disclosed it while talking with the journalists. He said this medical college and hospital will be built over 6 acres of land and the present location of the 50-bed Railway hospital in CRB area. Project Director of Railway, East zone Abdul Jalil told that this medical college will be constructed in two phases and the first phase consists of 250 bed hospital will be completed by 2021 and total project will be completed by eight years. He said after full-fledged operation of the hospital, 500 students will get chance for study in the medical college.
A private company under concept of PPC will entrusted to construct the project and after operation of 40 years, the project including all installations will be handed over to railway, sources added. Chief Estate Officer of Railway sources said the feasiblility study of the proposed medical college and hospital ended recently. Meanwhile Parliamentary standing committee on Ministry of Railway in a meeting on April 24 last at chittagong circuit house approved the project of the hospital. As per proposed plans, the construction work will begin from next year, sources said.
