Railway introduces animal train for Eid -ul- Azha

Bangladesh Railways will transport sacrificial cows and goats from the northern and the western regions to Dhaka and Chattogram at conventional fares on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, said Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan.
The railway authorities have taken this decision at the request of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, he said at a press conference at Railway Bhaban on Tuesday.
The minister said the Railways has decided to launch wagon services to carry sacrificial animals for the Eid following the demand of the traders.
He said cattle from different parts of the country, especially from Rajshahi, Pabna, Natore, Mymensingh, Jamalpur and Faridpur, are brought to the capital before Eid. “We’ll transport those using wagons charging Tk between 1,500-2 500 per animal. Many wagons can be attached to a train as each wagon has the capacity to carry 15-20 animals.”
The maximum charge for transporting each animal is fixed at 2,500 from Gaibandha, Pabna and Kushtia to Chattogram while to Dhaka the maximum rate will be Tk 1,500-2,000, said the minister.
