Railway, East Zone authority conducted eviction drive in Ice factory road in the city under Kotwali thana on Sunday.
The eviction drive was enforced from 10 am to 5 pm led by its Estate Officer Yasrat Reza .
During the 7 hours long drive, about 200 illegal dwelling houses popularly known as den of drugs evicted and recovered about 2 acres of land from illegal possessions.
A railway sources said to evict total illegally occupied areas, it will take more 2 or 3 days. Police sources said 80 police members and 10 railway security men joined the eviction drive.
CDA recovered 30 kathas land in Muradpur: City development watchdog-Chitagong Development Authority (CDA) has recovered 30 kathas of govt land at Muradpur in city on Sunday from the illegal occupants.
These lands were acquisitioned by CDA for expansion of Muradpur road following the construction of flyover there. Executive Magistrate of Chittagong development authority Mr. Thin Wannu led the eviction drive.
The mobile court sources said these land were acquired since long by CDA for expansion of road.
CDA in the meantime issued eviction notice to the occupants earlier but they declined it and the mobile court of CDA along with 40 labours and bulldozers took part in the demolition of the buildings and other semi pucca houses from the land. sources said about 40 shops were evicted in the drive on Sunday .
