State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday said that the government would provide security to the rail, road and waters ways for smooth movement of transports at any cost.
“We are determined to keep all communication system active at any cost,” he told journalists at his secretariat office in the city after an emergency meeting.
He added that Bangladesh Nationalist Party had announced the blockade programme in order to make the capital Dhaka paralysed but it failed to do so.
“However, the BNP-Jamaat were trying to create obstacles at many places in the country by setting fire on transports. After a discussion with the owners of transports, all modes of road transports, water vessels and trains will defy the blockade throughout the country,” he said State Minister for Home said that the transport owners sought security from the government to ply their transports smoothly amid blockade.
“We have assured the transport owners of providing security to their transports. I have instructed the Inspector General of Police and Director Generals of Rapid Action Battalion, Border Guard Bangladesh and Anasr to maintain security vigils on the city street, water ways and railway,” he said. Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan and State Minister for LGRD Moshiur Rahman Ranga were also present in the meeting.
