Sylhet’s rail communication with Dhaka and Chittagong has been suspended since early Friday after a pillar of Jankichhara rail bridge on the Akhaura-Sylhet route subsided in flash flood triggered by torrential rain.Train communication was snapped until 9am on Saturday.
Sylhet-bound Upobon Express and Udayan Express are stranded at Srimangal and Shayestaganj respectively.
No train left Sylhet on Saturday morning.Railway’s Traffic control department of East zone said they were repairing the bridge and hoped the situation would return to normal soon.
