Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized huge quantity of cigarettes and alcohol during a raid at the capital’s Fu Wang Club on Thursday.
The elite force also arrested three persons from the club, located at Tejgaon Industrial area.
RAB Director (Legal and Media wing) Lt Col Md Sarwar Bin Kashem in a press briefing said the bar has the license to sell liquor, but it did not follow many terms and conditions.
“Around 2,000 bottles of alcohol, 10,000 cans of “Hunter” beer, large amount of foreign cigarettes and Tk 7 lakh were seized from the club, which were not supposed to be in the club,” he said.
The RAB official also said that nearly three percent of the alcohol bottles at the club were illegally stored and the club could not show the relevant papers for the extra alcohol.
“The club will be sealed and a case — either under the Special Powers Act or Narcotics Control Act –will be filed against them,” he added.
The detainees were identified as Jahid, Xavier and Chanchal, who were the employees of the club.
RAB headquarters and RAB-1 jointly raided the Club as part of the ongoing raid against casinos and clubs in the city that began on September 18.
