Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society forced Mohammedan Sporting Club to share points playing 1-1 in their first match of the 12-team JB Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at MA Aziz Stadium on Monday.
Rahmatganj forward Siyo Zunapio of Congo put his side ahead in the 17th minute with a magnificent left footer volley from six-yard box. Midfielder Mahbub Hasan Nayon delivered a right footer cross from the right flank and Zunapio took a fast step to connect the ball quickly, 1-0.
Mohammedan captain Ismael Bangura leveled the margin in the 82nd minute converting a penalty, 1-1.
Mohammedan forward Aminur Rahman Sojib took a shot from the goal mouth melee and Rahmatganj captain Sawkat Rasel tried to clear the ball which touched his hand and referee Bharoth Chandra awarded a penalty to Mohammedan.
Sojib spoiled a golden chance in the 69th minute. His gesture misled goalie Masum to free the post and took a shot from the top of the box that was cleared by a defender for the cost of a corner.
In the 56th minute, Mohammedan midfielder Masuk Mia Jony spoiled an opportunity. He took a right footer from the right side of the six-yard box off forward Sojib cross from right flank but goalie Masum punched the ball to clear for the cost of a corner.
In the 14th minute, Mohammedan defender Didarul Alam took a powerful left footer from the top of the box but Rahmatganj goalie SM Samiul Islam Masum punched the ball to clear.
Didarul again created a chance in the 24th minute, carrying the ball from the midfield in a sole effort but went past opponent defenders from left flank, but goalie dived on to the ball before taking shot from the touch line.
Chittagong Abahani Ltd will face Dhaka Abahani Ltd in the next match starting at 7:30 pm at the same venue.
