Rahi confesses Ananta killing

One of the two siblings arrested in connection with the killing of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das reportedly made confession before a local here on Wednesday.
Judge Anwarul Karim of Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3 recorded the statement of Mannan Rahi Under Section 164, said court Inspector Nazibul Islam.
Earlier on August 28, members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police arrested Rahi and his brother Mohaimin Noman, 26, from East Faljur village in Kanaighat upazila. Tipped off, a CID team launched a drive at their house village and arrested the two
brothers, sons of Mainuddin of the village. On the same day, they were put on a seven-day remand in connection with the blogger killing.
Police said, Rahi, also a student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), used to post writings on his facebook account against bloggers and his brother Noman used to run several facebook accounts.
Meanwhile, police arrested another suspect early Wednesday in connection with the blogger killing. A team of CID arrested Abul Khayer from Tukerbazar on the suburbs of the city in the early hours. Later, a local court placed him on a seven-day remand.
Blogger Ananta, also an activist of Sylhet Ganajagaran Manch, was hacked to death by a group of assailants in broad daylight at Subidbazar Bankalapara in the city on May 12.
On May 13, Rateshwar Das, elder brother of Ananta Bijoy, filed a case against four people with the Airport Police Station. Ananta Bijoy was also a writer in the ‘Mukto-Mona blog’, founded by blogger Avijit Roy – who had been murdered two and a half months ago after he came home from the USA.
