Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden was recently a sight of smoke, fire fighters and an ambulance. In case that made jaws drop, the good news is it was just a drill to mark International Fire Fighters Day, observed globally on 4th May 2016.
Ensuring stringent safety and security standards is one of the core responsibilities of Radisson Blu, which is arguably the safest hotel in town.
“RBDWG is not a regular five star hotel in Dhaka. Our guests mainly consist of VIP delegates and foreign business travellers while events held at our hotel are mainly high profile ones,” said Christoph Voegeli, General Manager. “It is crucial for us to make our guests feel safe and relaxed while they work and stay at our hotel.”
The drill lasted for about an hour where 200 employees participated as guests looked on.
An alarm was set off after notifying guests there would be a drill. All employees rushed to the assembly point near the main gate in a systematic way.
Fire fighters rescued guests from the top floors, after extinguishing the fire, which were then carried away in ambulances. This also provided an opportunity for the hotel to test their inventory of equipments that was recently upgraded to adhere to safety compliance benchmarks.
