An exceptional race competition was held on Sunday in the capital on the occasion of World Toilet Day to underline the need to ensure a sound, safe and healthy life and make toilet-facilities within the reach of everybody.
The competition was organised in front of Nagar Bhaban in the city and ended at the gate of Osmani Udyan in the morning.
The URBAN, Concerned for Family Development, DSK and Sazeda Foundation jointly arranged the programme.
A total of 50 competitors from different places in the country took part in the programme.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dhaka South City Corporation Khan Mohammad Bilal was present in the event as the Chief Guest, Programme and Policy Advocacy of WaterAid Bangladesh Liaquat Ali as the Special Guest.
Mohammad Bilal said, ”As toilets fulfil and ensure the basic needs and a healthy life for all, so we built up toilets in different places in the city for the people to make their services easier.”
Ali said the race has been shown as a symbolic competition to create awareness among the people.
A photo exhibition has also been organized in front of the newly built toilets at Osmani Udyan.
Besides the maps of newly built toilets locations in the city were distributed among the citizens.
