The 155th birth anniversary of Bishwakobi Rabindranath Thakur (Rabindra Joyantee) observed in Barisal city on Sunday showing deep respect to the great poet of Bengali language and literature and calling properly exercise the creation and ideals of the poet.
Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad, Barisal district administration, Charukala Barisal and other institutions organized day-long programmes at Ashwini Kumar Hall, Planet World children’s park, Charukala art gallery and different places premises.
The programmes included presenting songs, poems, dances, dramas, exhibitions on paintings of Tagore, discussion meetings and competitions on creations of the poet, prize giving ceremonies.
Dr. Gazi Saifuzzaman, deputy commissioner Barisal, Prof. Ziaul Haque, chairman Barisal Education Board, SM Iqbal, president Barisal Sangskritik Sangathan Samanaya Parishad, Dola Gangopadhaya, Rabindra Sangeet artist of Poshchim Bangla, Advocate Manabendra Batabayal, Nazrul Islam Chunnu, Mir Mujtaba Ali, Mukul Das, Kajal Ghose, Shamima Masud Munni and other cultural, intellectual activists, addressed the programmes.
Different educational, cultural institutions, organizations including SCGM School, Udichi, Barisal Natak Abriti Proshikkhan Kendra, Kheyali and Shabdaboli Group Theatre, Nattyam, Prantik, Tansen also arranged elaborate programs on this occasion.
BSS from Faridpur reports: The 155th birth day of great poet and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore was observed here yesterday by various socio-cultural and literary organizations of this town in a befitting manner.
In this connection Faridpur Shahittya and Sanskriti Unnayan Sangstha(FSSUS), a local cultural organization and Faridpur unit of Jatiyo Rabindra Sangit Sammelan Parishad (JRSSP)jointly organised a program of discussion, recitation and musical soiree of Tagore at Faridpur Shilpakala academy auditorium last evening.
DC of Faridpur Sardar Sharafat Ali was the chief guest in the function while Sadar upazilla chairman Khondoer Mohtesham Hossain Babor and Shahin Mohtesham Hossain attended as special guest. The function was chaired by FSSUS president and district Muktijoddhya command council chairman Abul Faez Shahnawaj.
The discussion was participated among others by Kushal Chowdhury, Shawkat Ali Zahid and Asma Akhtar Mukta activist of FSSUS and JRSSP.
The discussants spoke on the versatile genius of Tagore who contributed enormously for enriching Bangla literature. There was no side left where this great poet did not contribute, the speakers said.
They mentioned that through his immortal writings the great poet gave the Bangalees a separate identity in the globe.
The discussion was followed by recitations from Tagore, dance based on Tagore songs. A musical soireee followed the recitation program.
